life lately.

2/4/13

Friday's news was huge and I don't quite know how to follow it. For one thing, I don't want to be that blogger that is everyday inundating you with pregnancy updates. I know that stuff is only interesting to folks that: a) are also pregnant, b) are intensely fascinated by pregnancy, or c) have a vested interest in the baby-to-come (grandparents, family, etc.).
As of right now, there's not much to report anyway. I've loosened up my belt some but I don't have a bump yet. All I want to do is eat and sleep. The appointments with my OB won't get very interesting for quite a few months... it's just a waiting game at this point.
I suppose now I can let you in on a secret. Here it is: almost every blog post through the month of January was scheduled weeks in advance so that I could lay low and rest. I made the decision to take a blog break when my church started its annual 21 days of prayer and fasting. I had planned to fast sweets, but the first day of the fast I felt God nudging me elsewhere. Sarah, you know as well as I do that sweets pose no threat to our relationship. It is the social media that absorbs your time and attention when I want to speak to you. And right now, I have something to tell you!
I now have a more clear vision of what lies ahead. Before too long, I will be a mother to two children! I am not going to return to traditional work anytime soon, and I'm not in any rush cross the line into pro photography. I want to learn how to fully enjoy my status as a stay at home mom!
Here's a few more things that have been happening in my life lately:

  1. Who needs a groundhog to predict the changing seasons? Spring flowers arrived early this year. Some of them never went away! We've had a garden of dandelions in the backyard all winter long. Never in my life have I had to pull weeds in January... but this year, I did. Seth has taken to pulling blooms and bringing them to me. He's such a sweet boy!
  2. I was involved with the launch of a new campus at out church: we now have eight satellite locations! The new location is much closer to my own home than the main campus, where I have been attending church for the past year. Yesterday was our first day opening the new campus to the public, and it was a swinging success. More than 1500 people attended, there were salvations and baptisms, and I was so humbled to play a small part.
  3. While I was on my blog break, we did have one snow day to mark the end of winter. I'd be surprised if there are any more this year! It's been such a mild winter, it was a big surprise that any snow at all stuck to the ground. It did stick for a few hours and Seth had a blast playing in the snow mush that afternoon. You can see pictures of our snow day here. The white fluff was gone before sundown!
  4. Seth and I are back to building forts. Right now, we have a tent of old sheets draped across half the living room! Soon I plan to share some pictures of our fort and an explanation of our technique. Look for that post sometime later this week!
xoxo, Sarah.

  1. Sneaky, sneaky, Sarah! But you had such a good reason to take your break from social media. I'm happy for you!

That picture of Seth is so cute! He must have so much fun building forts with you. What kid wouldn't love that?!
